This site is all about the Baker family, as well
as our pets, our horses, our hobbies and our businesses.
We've also included a list of some of our Favorite Links to other sites you might enjoy.
Whether family, friends, or those who just stopped
by - welcome to our site. As you can see, we are no longer "Bakers' Acres", a carryover from when we were in Palm Beach
County. It's taken four years, but we have settled on the name for our place.
The name is much more beautiful in Spanish, Asilo
de Robles, pronounced ah-SILL-o day ROW-blace, literally meaning "Haven of Oaks",
but Oak Haven is more easily understood by most of our friends.
We are four in the Baker family here at Oak Haven,
our mini-farm in north-central Florida. We share our home with our six dogs and two horses. We
also enjoy watching many species of birds at our feeders. We also see huge owls and bats if we're outside at the
right times. However, Mom's very favorites are the eagles and hawks who hunt here.
Seeing them up close is just awesome.
Dad is a computing engineer, and is fortunate
to be able to work from home. He telecommutes for a Palm Beach County firm, driving there and/or flying to his customer's
office in Connecticut when necessary. His hobby being foot races, this is the perfect area in Florida to enjoy varied
lays of the land as well as beautiful scenery. Sometimes the coyotes join in his practice runs. He races almost
every weekend in the winter and spring months, many times taking one of our dogs with him.
Mom has retired from her home business, happy to receive
her monthly Social Security checks while there's still money there. Even so, she still does occasional maintenance on
a couple of friends' web sites. And her passion is just as strong as ever to spread the word about Horse ID Bands©, a
very important aide in disaster preparation for horses. So very many horses were lost during Hurricane Andrew ...
the sorrow among horse owners was terrible. She never wants this to happen again, so she does her part to offer a solution.
And then there's our annual Christmas Letter. That page only changes once a year, to bring our family and friends up-to-date on what's new with us.
We are glad you came to visit, take time to browse
our pages and links. We welcome any comments you may have.
God bless and thanks for stopping by.
